Proverbs Collection 3: Words and Anger
The Story
Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare. Proverbs 15:18 A hot-tempered person starts fights; a cool-tempered person stops them. Proverbs 29:11 Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.
The Message
Our words carry enormous power — they can be the match that lights a fire or the gentle rain that puts one out — and Scripture calls us to take that responsibility seriously, especially in moments when our emotions are running hot. True wisdom is not the absence of anger but the disciplined and gracious governance of it, choosing words and responses that reflect the peace of Christ rather than the heat of the moment.
