Psalms Anger Collection 2: God’s Patience as Our Model

The Story

Psalm 103:8 The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. Psalm 145:8–9 The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation. Psalm 86:15 But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.

The Message

The God who has the most reason to be angry with us — knowing every sin, every failure, and every rebellious thought — chooses instead to be slow to anger and overflowing with unfailing love, and this is the very character He calls and empowers us to reflect toward those who wrong or frustrate us. When we find it hardest to be patient with others, the Psalms invite us to pause and remember how extraordinarily patient God has been and continues to be with us — and to let that overwhelming grace become the fuel for the grace we extend to those around us.
